Zoo Teens: Jr. Camp Counselor

$80 for members, $100 for non-members

Application Process

  • Teens must be at least entering the 8th-grade fall of 2023 to apply to the Zoo teen program.
  • Applications Open January 30, 2023
  • Applications Close April 7, 2023
  • All applicants must complete the application.
  • Submit two recommendation google forms from unrelated adults (link below)
  • Interview with Zoo education leadership.
  • During the interview, applicants will give a 2-3 minute presentation on the importance of zoos and aquariums.

Expectations if selected:

  • The program fee will be due by May 7th.
  • Parents or guardians must attend parent orientation on May 4th or May 6th.
  • Please provide us with any time off requests needed for vacation or appointments.
  • Zoo teens must be able to meet all scheduled training.
  • Complete at least 
    • 24 hours of Training (Mandatory Training June 5th, 7th, and 9th)
    • 70 hours of Summer Camp (June 12- August 11 or Spring Break)
    • 30 hours of Animal Ambassador Husbandry (May 2023-March 2024)
    • 10 hours of Events or Animal Celebration Days (September 1 – March 31)
