As an Abilene Zoo volunteer, you can have a great impact by using your talents to enhance the experience of the zoo guests and provide staff support.

 

 

 

General Requirements to Become an Animal Care and Bird Rehabilitation Volunteer:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Completed application 
  • Interview to determine the best fit 
  • Be physically capable of performing tasks required for your position and able to follow directions
  • Be able to work in a variety of environments; including outside at times in variable and inclement weather
  • Fulfilling the time requirements for the job which you have applied
  • Completed background check
  • Proof of TB test with negative results on file
  • Signed acknowledgment of receipt of volunteer handbook and guidelines
  • Completion of training – all sessions required
  • Payment of training fee – $20

  • Complete sign-up form for the event when posted 
  • Be physically capable of performing tasks required and able to follow directions
  • Be able to work in a variety of environments; including outside at times in variable and inclement weather
  • Fulfilling the time requirements for the event shift
