Join us on July 4, 2023 for WesTex Connect’s 24th Annual Fireworks Spectacular at Abilene Zoo.

Celebrate the United State’s Independence with admission to the zoo, live music, Texas eats, and the BIGGEST 4th of July firework spectacular in the Big Country.

Your ticket includes:

  • Admission to Abilene Zoo  from 4 – 9 PM (last admission at 8 PM)
  • Giraffe Feeding Experience, Zoo Train Ride, and Carousel Ride
  • Sharon’s BBQ Dinner
  • Live Music from “Freeride Band”
  • Children’s Fireworks Show
  • WesTex Connect’s Firework Spectacular
  • VIP Parking UPGRADE available (limited spaces available)
  • Upgrade to bring your COOLER into Festival Gardens (NOT ALLOWED inside the Zoo)
  • Additional food, drinks, snacks, and souvenirs will be available for purchase inside the Zoo.

Schedule of Events:

4:00 PM: VIP Parking & Access to Festival Gardens opens

6:00 PM: Dyess Honor Guard presents the US Flag; Pledge of Allegiance; National Anthem; Prayer

6:00 – 8:00PM: Sharon’s BBQ dinner served

6:00 – 9:30PM: LIVE Music presented by “Freeride Band”

7:45PM: Big Country 1 Flyover

9:30PM: Children’s Fireworks Show*

*Children’s ticket required for interactive entrance (limited to first 100 children). Children 3 to 10 years only for show—must be accompanied by Parent/Guardian

10:00PM: WesTex Connect’s Fireworks Spectacular

Rules:

*All Tickets MUST be checked at the Parking Lot Entrance PRIOR to Entering the Event*

Tickets

  • Tickets are available online only at abilenezoo.org
  • Parking passes and cooler tickets MUST be purchased online at abilenezoo.org
  • Tickets are non-transferable & hold NO cash value
  • No refunds unless event is canceled

Parking

  • Entrance into Zoo parking lot by vehicle REQUIRES a purchased VIP Parking Pass
  • Present VIP Parking Pass ticket at White Tent at entrance to gain access
  • No drop-off’s inside Zoo parking lot entrance
  • If you choose to not purchase a parking pass, parking is available inside Grover Nelson Park or across the street by the Taylor Co Coliseum Box Office OR the softball field areas.  Simply walk over.  Exchange your online tickets for wristbands at the White Tent at the main entrance. 
  • Per the City of Abilene NO PARKING ON THE GRASS or SIDES OF MAIN HIGHWAY

No Glass, No Firearms, No Grills/BBQ and No Tents allowed

Bring your own seat—Lawn Chairs, Blankets, Sunscreen, Bug Spray, Cool Rags, etc. 

Please respect our City Park by cleaning up your area & picking up trash

LIABILITY DISCLAIMER FOR FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR

WesTex Connect (WTC) does not provide liability insurance for the protection of individuals, groups, organizations, businesses, spectators, sponsors, or others who may participate in the July 4th Fireworks Spectacular (held on July 4, 2023).

In consideration for your participation in said Fireworks Spectacular, the individual, group, organization, business, spectator, or other, does hereby release and forever discharge WTC, and its officers, board, employees, and sponsors, jointly and severally from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims and demands for, upon or by reason of any damage, loss or injury, which hereafter may be sustained by participating in the Fireworks Spectacular.  

This release extends and applies to, and also covers and includes, all unknown, unforeseen, unanticipated and unsuspected injuries, damages, loss and liability and the consequences thereof as well as those now disclosed and known to exist.  Fireworks and fire and boom, are very loud, and cause fallout from the sky.  The provisions of any state, federal, local or territorial law or state providing substance that releases shall not extend to claims, demands, injuries, sickness, death, or damages which are known or unsuspected to exist at this time, to the person executing such release, are hereby expressly waived.

I hereby agree on behalf of my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, to indemnify WTC and its officers, board, employees, and sponsors, joint and severally from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims and demands for, upon and by release of any damage, loss or injury, which hereafter may be sustained by participating in the Fireworks Spectacular.

It is further understood and agreed that said participation in the Fireworks Spectacular is not to be construed as an admission of any liability and/or acceptance of assumption of responsibility for any damages or expenses by WTC, its officers, board, employees, and sponsors, jointly and/or severally. It is also understood that WTC, its officers, board and employees, will not be liable as a result of any alleged action of the Fireworks Spectacular participant.
