North American Bullfrog

Meet Jeremiah. He's a good friend of mine. This North American Bullfrog is just one animal found in the Reptile House at the Abilene Zoo.

Fast Facts

Native to North America, bullfrogs are a green or grayish color and often feature spots. You'll find them in wetlands all across the continent from Novia Scotia to Central Florida and west toward the Rocky Mountains!

Frog ears are called tympanums and look more like a flat, disc-shaped patch of skin directly adjacent to each eye. The male bullfrog tympanums are larger than the females.

Jeremiah is very shy and doesn't like loud noises. Animals like Jeremiah are a great example of why guests should never tap on glass exhibits.
